Nepathya: Live In Pokhara

As the moon rose up to the sky from behind the stage in Pokhara’s Rangashala this evening, a digital countdown on the stage reached closer to zero. When it did, at 6:55PM, Amrit Gurung, dressed in faded denim jeans and jacket, with his long salt and pepper hair loosely tied, appeared from backstage, and climbed up a short flight of stairs. More than 6,000 concert attendees erupted in enthusiastic cheer. “We are thrilled to perform our first show of our band’s 25th year here in Pokhara,” the folk rock singer said. After all, for Nepathya, Pokhara is not just a tour stop, its home.

Tonight’s concert, however, was not just a celebration of the band and its music. It also helped raise funds to educate underprivileged students and build better infrastructure at Shree Manila Gaurishankar High School in Lwang Ghalel, Kaski, and Shree Bhumeshwor Secondary School in Salyan.

Two videos from the concert including “Resham”are below.

As the band celebrates its 25th anniversary, the audience in Pokhara today seemed largely in their late teens to mid-20s.
